PlayStation Vue Raising Prices For Every Subscription Plan By $5, Now Starts At $49.99 Month

Cable-replacement streaming services follow similar pricing patterns to regular cable: the more you pay, the more channels you can watch. PS Vue offers four monthly subscription tiers: Access, Core, Elite, and Ultra. Note that Sony raised the price of each of its plans by $5 per month. These price increases are already in place for new subscribers and will take effect for existing subscribers for their payment due after July 31.

The entry-level Access plan now costs $49.99 per month and features 50 channels. The channel lineup includes typical networks, such as CBS, NBC, FOX, and ABC. News coverage is strong, with BBC America, CNBC, CNN, and MSNBC making an appearance, but this tier's sports coverage is limited to a few local networks, ESPN, and ESPN2. Rounding out the list are popular entertainment and lifestyle channels such as AMC, Animal Planet, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, Food Network, HGTV, SyFy, and Travel Channel.

The Elite package costs $64.99 per month and features roughly 100 channels. It builds on the Core plan's coverage by adding BBC World News, Boomerang, ESPN Deportes, Fox Deportes, the Tennis Channel, and Universal Kids. The plan also includes dedicated movie channels, such as Epix Hits and FXM. The top-tier Ultra plan goes for $84.99 per month and includes everything in the Elite package, along with HBO and Showtime.

PS Vue's price plans are consistent with those of the competition. For comparison, fuboTV's base plan costs $54.99 per year and includes 90 channels; YouTube TV costs $49.99 per month for around 70 channels, and DirecTV Now's entry-level plan costs $50 per month for around 40 channels. Sling TV's combined plan costs $40 per month and includes roughly 56 channels, while entertainment-focused Philo bundles around 58 channels for $20 per month.

PS Vue offers several add-on subscriptions for filling out your channel lineup. Starting with the Access plan, you can add on FX+ for $5.99 per month, Epix Hits for $3.99 per month, and the Español Pack for $4.99 per month. The Español Pack includes Cine Sony, CNN en Espanol, Discovery en Espanol, Nat Geo Mundo, and Universo.

PS Vue also offers a variety of standalone channels you can add to your subscription, such as HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, and Fox Soccer Plus. There are also combo plans available such as HBO and Cinemax ($21.99 per month for both together) and Epix Hits and Showtime ($13.99 per month).

Starting with the Access plan, you can add on FX+ for $5.99 per month, Epix Hits for $3.99 per month, and the Espa\u00f1ol Pack for $4.99 per month. Sony announced that it is increasing the subscription cost for its live TV streaming service. PlayStation Vue customers will see all multi-channel plans increase their monthly rates by $5. The change will take effect today for new customers. Existing subscribers will see the prices go up with their first billing period after July 31.

The cheapest package for PlayStation Vue, the Access plan, will now offer a collection of live channels and DVR tools for $49.99 a month. The Core package, which adds several sports channels, will cost $54.99. The Elite level adds movie channels for $64.99 a month while Premium also adds HBO and Showtime for $84.99 a month.

The new price plans have been unveiled as a result. Standard PlayStation Vue Access will be $49.99 per month now and give people access to popular live TV. The Core plan, which includes the Access channels and sports, will be $54.99 per month. Elite, which adds movies, will be $64.99. Finally, the all-encompassing Ultra will be $84.99.

The news follows a recent trend in streaming services casually notching up their prices. Perhaps most notably, Netflix tacked on $2 per month to its most popular plan in January, and in late March, DAZN, the sports streaming service looking to corner the boxing market, doubled its monthly cost, from $9.99 per month to $19.99, and killed its free trial.

Hulu made a different move byproviding a single package for all. The base price is $44.99/month. Which givesaccess to live TV along with all the Hulu originals. Since there is no contractor commitment you can cancel the plan any time after subscription. Moreover, 7days free trial period will give the subscriber full access. The trial optionwill help the subscriber to know the service well.

But who offers the best service? Is it easy to cobble together different plans to get what you really want? We asked readers and they have responded. Nearly every one pays the $9.99 a month for Netflix, but Americans cannot live on Netflix alone. 350c69d7ab
